In Food and Wine, Weddings

The 31st of August was the last official day of
winter, and here at Markovina Estate we saw it out in style. We
could not have been blessed with a more stunning day for such a
fantastic wedding.

Our lovely bride Emma had infused the wedding with a natural
theme which looked absolutely outstanding and complemented the
scenery and gardens of the estate beautifully. The dining area
decorations were stunning, with each table set up with hessian
runners and place cards made from pinecones and flowers.

Emma also enhanced the atmosphere by hanging tea lights in jars
and incredible twine balls across the venue. As the sun went down
and the candles lit up the venue came to life and looked
stunning.

The menu the couple had chosen was our plated menu and this
included our nibbles selection with an entrée of smoked salmon,
rocket, and New Zealand potatoes. After the entrée, the wedding
party speeches began and were followed by the blessings from the
parents of the Bride and Groom.

When the speeches finished it was time for the main meal. The
guests had a choice of three meals:

  • our horopito spiced lamb rack served with a sweet potato
gratin, ratatouille confit and a sage jus
  • the lemon chicken thighs served with streaky bacon on a potato
rosti creamy wild mushroom ragout or the goat’s cheese
tart served with watercress, quinoa and a wild mushroom
    sauce

As the night progressed our guests indulged in the delectable
desserts and it was great to see everyone letting their hair down
and dancing the night away amidst our newly upgraded lighting
system.

It was certainly a lovely sight with everyone smiling and
dancing, the music in full swing and the hired drapes that hung
above the dance floor added just that little touch of
magic!

Once again we took pleasure in watching our venue come alive and
being enjoyed by everyone and can happily say this was another
fabulous wedding.

We look forward to seeing the official photos from Emma’s
photographer and in the meantime we have included a few that we
snapped to give you a feel of the day and we hope you enjoy them
too.

Emma came back and told us:

“Markovina went beyond our expectations to make our
wedding a stress-free and fun celebration for our guests, our
family and for us.

We had the plated menu and the food was exquisite.
It was always delivered with a smile and an offer of more wine or
champagne. The vine covered roof  and beautiful gardens create
a natural ambiance that cannot be beaten.

With so much wedding experience the Markovina family
know exactly how to make your wedding run smoothly while
making sure the day is yours and filled with your own style and
personality.

Another bonus is the already set up dance floor that
does not require any chairs or tables to be moved. We had the
greatest day and cannot recommend Markovina highly
enough.”
