Guests at the event were able to indulge in 14 different food
stations with examples of cuisine from around the world.
The Markovina food station was a popular
starting point for guests, where they enjoyed a prawn cocktail
served in a small wooden boat plate, with a shot glass serving of
ceviche and a bowl of mussel and kumara chowder. Our chef was in
attendance and really enjoyed the occasion.

A number of the stalls were prepared by students from Massey
High School
and the quality of their offering was
outstanding. In particular the Indian stall’s interpretation
of a slightly hotter, butter chicken dish was just delicious.

Fabulous food from around the World!

The NZ Maori food stall provided a
fabulous seafood chowder which was warming and satisfying on a cold
night and really hit the button for taste and quality. A great
example of what students can acheive.

The French team – predictably… served a
selection of snails – I personally tried a snail served on a
mushroom. A first for me… and although I was a little tentative…
surprisingly, it was quite good.

The Croatian team prepared a spit roast
lamb served with fresh bread and Cevapi. Strawbuddy strawberries
got everything right with this Croatian selection.

Exotic Asian food – there were even more
student-operated stalls with some very tempting samplings from
Korea, Hawaii and Thailand.

Traditional pasta from Italy –
supplied with the compliments of The Fireplace Bar and Brasserie in
Kumeu and thoroughly enjoyed.

John and Anne O’Leary sponsored the Mexican
Stall
 and The Swiss
Club
provided edibles – from Switzerland of
course!

I personally finished the night on the American
stall
run by Craig Walker Building Removals and
enjoyed one of their mini-burgers.

Which I followed on a sweet note with a few candies
from Candy Land sponsored by Sentra
Printing.

Friday 5th July 2013 was a night to remember

It was great to see our Armed Forces fly in to the party
with the Air Force supplying an
in-flight catering selection.

Throughout the night we were treated to live entertainment which
contributed greatly to the tone of the evening and we all realised
what a big load of talent there is at Massey High School!

Friday 5th July 2013 was a night to remember

I believe everybody who attended had a wonderful night and there
were not many who were physically capable of sampling all of the
huge selection of foods from every site, most were only able to get
through about eight of the fourteen stalls.

This night was for a great cause and I am pleased we could play
our part in helping with the fundraiser.

The night managed to raise a little over $7,500 for the Massey High
School Foundation
– A huge success and thank you for everyones
support!

And… what amazing value for the guests at only $35!
