At Markovina Estate, we have a diverse range of ceremony locations, all unique in their own way, with various benefits and reasons why they are so popular. Each of them feels like its own world, despite being all contained within our 10-acre Auckland wedding venue. Furthermore, we have won several wedding awards for the diversity of these stunning ceremony locations. However, with so much choice, it can be challenging to decide which ceremony location to make that lifelong commitment. In this blog series, we go through each location one by one and highlight their main features, seasonal changes, as well as the rich history behind the venue and each ceremony space.
In this piece, we will be going through The Cherry Blossom Round.
The Cherry Blossom Round is the newest of our ceremony locations at Markovina Estate. This 360-degree elevated mound ceremony space is something to behold, especially when the trees blossom. Envision yourself or your partner walking up and around a path lined with white rose bushes, obscured by the round’s hedging from guests. Then, as you make your way around to walk into the ceremony space, you appear, and guests take to their feet to welcome the bride down the aisle.
Around this circular area are cherry, pear, and crabapple blossoms, decorated with white and pink flowers. As you make it to the end of the ceremony location, you stand in front of a row of cherry blossoms, which line your backdrop, creating the illusion of endless blossoms stretching behind you. The soft fragrance of spring blossoms fills the air as you say your vows and make a lifelong commitment.
There is so much beauty in the surroundings, yet the ceremony still feels intimate and personal, with your guests enclosed within the soft hedging.
The History
The Cherry Blossom is our newest ceremony location, created to bring something utterly unique to our existing areas. Following the construction of our indoor fireplace ceremony space, a lot of dirt was left over. Rather than carting the dirt off the property, the Markovina family and team decided to repurpose what many would’ve considered waste.
An elevated circular mound was created using this dirt, with a curved ramp leading up to the central mound. As a result, our only circular ceremony space was formed. To bring it to life, various blossom trees were planted, the mound was hedged, and white rose bushes were planted, creating the perfect area, particularly for spring weddings.
Seasonal Considerations
This is one of our wedding ceremony locations with a particular seasonal window if you and your partner want the trees blossoming during your wedding day, as they only flower in October. However, despite this, there is still a lot of unique beauty to the location outside of October. The blossom trees are still luscious and green throughout late spring into summer, and the hedging encapsulating the elevated round is green all year round. This is perfect for those planning a spring wedding in Auckland.
Other Considerations
This is the only ceremony location designed explicitly with 360-degree seating in mind. You can choose a standard aisle, a spiral aisle, or walk into the centre surrounded by guests. Your guests will witness your union from every angle, and it is a wedding photographer's dream as it makes for stunning photos and drone shots.
It also has very unique colours during October compared to the rest of our garden wedding venue. The venue is full of green and vibrant pops of colour, with rustic vintage features and pieces scattered around it representing our history as an old winemaking vineyard. This uniqueness comes from the blossom trees' pale pink and white colours and the white rose bushes lining the walkway up to the space.
Finally, the secluded nature of The Cherry Blossom Round’s location is very appealing, no matter the size of your wedding party. It will make it feel very intimate, creating a sense of privacy and calm with your closest friends and family all seated within the beautifully enclosed hedging.
