This small, wooden, white structure creates a simple and elegant backdrop for your vows. Surrounded by the luscious Markovina gardens, it feels like a secluded, nature filled alcove, perfect for couples wanting a romantic outdoor ceremony space. The History
The Pergola became part of Markovina Estate in 2015, when we discovered it and saw its potential as a charming, character-filled space. After bringing it onto the property, our team restored it with care, sanding it back and giving it a fresh coat of paint to reinvigorate its timeless style. Once refurbished, it was placed in its current location to offer couples something truly unique to our venue, a beautifully restored structure nestled among the gardens, designed to feel like a special, hidden spot made just for their ceremony.
Seasonal Considerations
The Pergola looks stunning throughout the entire year. Our team maintains it regularly, ensuring it remains beautifully presented by polishing any areas that become weathered over time. The surrounding trees are mostly evergreen, meaning the backdrop remains consistent no matter what month you choose for your wedding.
One minor consideration is peak summer. With limited tree coverage, the area can become warm during a long ceremony. Couples planning a midsummer wedding at the Pergola may want to keep the ceremony length short to ensure guests stay comfortable.
Other Considerations
The location of the Pergola is ideal for an easy and enjoyable ceremony experience. It is close to the car park, making it simple for guests to find, and is positioned centrally within our wedding estate. This means the reception area is just a short walk away, allowing guests, including those with mobility challenges, to move comfortably to the bar and cocktail hour area.
It is also one of our smaller ceremony spaces. This makes it perfect for intimate weddings, creating a cosy and close atmosphere. However, very large guest numbers may require wider seating that can place guests further back, occasionally with limited sightlines.
