Unique Night Spaces for Guests at Your Wedding Reception at Markovina Estate

The formalities are coming to a close, and the DJ is preparing to open up the dance floor for everyone to enjoy for the remainder of your wedding day. However, not everyone necessarily wants to be busting out dance moves for the next 2 hours while enjoying the open bar. How can you ensure there is sufficient space for everyone during the final portion of your wedding reception? Well, the reception doesn’t need to keep guests confined to the main reception room and the dance floor; instead, if you plan and coordinate with your wedding venue, there’s the potential to create a variety of spaces for guests to sit back, relax, and enjoy the late hours of the evening. At Markovina Estate, we can help by utilising various areas of our reception spaces to curate an experience for everyone to enjoy.

The Dance Floor: Creating Energy Without Overwhelming Guests

First of all, you can’t forget the dance floor. This is where your guests will get to their feet, show off their fantastic dance moves to all the amazing tunes the DJ is playing for everyone. When curating this space, there are a few essential features to consider:

The reception room lighting

It's nice to have some darkness when guests are jumping up onto the dance floor, but it has to be balanced with allowing guests who are still seated and chatting at their table to be able to see each other.

Music volume

How loud do you want the party music to be? Similar to the lighting, louder music can be better for those dancing, but it can impair the ability of people having conversations at their dining table to hear each other.

Party Lights

At Markovina Estate, we offer a variety of party lights and a disco ball to help you curate the perfect wedding reception party. Your DJ may also provide their own party lights. Consider what you’re trying to create for your wedding day and execute according to your vision.

The Dance Floor

Do you want to stick with the Markovina Polish floor to dance on? Or opt in to upgrade to a proper dance floor with flashing lights that will really amplify the energy guests will feel when dancing into the night.

Now that you’ve created the perfect environment for dancing, what other areas should you consider for your reception party?

The Fireplace Lounge Area for Conversation & Connection

The fireplace is the perfect spot for guests to sit back, relax, and mingle with one another. The fireplace is located at the end of the atrium, adjacent to the main wedding reception area under the vines, and features separate sound control from the main dance floor. This means that on the night, our staff can adjust the music volume in the fireplace to create a pleasant background noise without overpowering those trying to converse.

Better yet, for our winter weddings, we can light the fire and set up some occasional chairs around it for our guests. They can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, or a nice glass of red wine, while enjoying each other’s great company.

Outdoor Fire Pits: Perfect for a Dance Floor Breather

A really good summer wedding spot is our fire pits outside next to our reception's atrium. After sunset, when it gets dark outside, we turn on the fire in these fire pits, which become the perfect place for guests to mingle after exhausting themselves on the dance floor. Furthermore, they are the ideal spot for some nighttime candid photos of your wedding reception, as guests enjoy beverages and each other's company around the light of the fire.

The Smokers Area: Converse and Relax

Another prevalent congregation point for your guests who either smoke or vape. It’s near the bar and the bathroom, meaning guests frequently pass those who are chatting away in this area. It’s also lovely as it offers fresh air by being outside, while still being illuminated by the main reception building. For this space, the Markovina team will ensure that there are ashtrays available for those who smoke.

Final Thoughts

Overall, taking the time to work with the Markovina team to curate these spaces will be something your guests really appreciate. Our team knows that guests appreciate having spaces away from the dance floor to enjoy some fresh air and take a break from all the dancing. If you'd like to explore these spaces for yourself, please don't hesitate to contact our team to arrange a private viewing of our Kumeu wedding venue and discover how we can bring your wedding dreams to life.
