Last weekend at the Estate we had the pleasure of hosting our
very first 100th birthday party for the
lovely Vera Green of West Auckland. And we are pleased to say
it was a great success for all those involved in the preparation
and the celebration.
The day started off incredibly well with Auckland giving us one
of her stunning mid winter days. This gave our guests the
opportunity to wander through our beautiful gardens enjoying the
last of the sun and also a chance for the young children to play
and burn off some energy before the official festivities began.
We were fortunate in hosting a wide variety of guests for this
wonderful party from all over Auckland. This included Vera’s
family, her young grandchildren and her friends.
Our Estate proved to be a great central location for everyone to
get to and the occasion was made even more special by the
attendance of one of Vera’s grandchildren who is visiting New
Zealand from her new home in Ireland. (We were also incredibly
fortunate to host her wedding here at Markovina Vineyard Estate a
week later).
Vera had selected the buffet meal from our extensive menu and this went down a real treat.
She took a liking to the “rice” which was actually the pumpkin and
parmesan risotto, as well as the pork belly with glazed apple,
saying she had never had anything like it! Also included in the
buffet was a spit roast lamb which everyone raved about.
A birthday party is not complete without a cake and this party
was no exception. After the buffet of delicious desserts Vera was
presented with a beautiful golden yellow cake, complete with an
edible bouquet of flowers and bow.
And then there were the party games which Vera’s
grandchildren were more than happy to oblige in. They had great fun
in bashing the piñata we provided, until it exploded and they
were rewarded with candy raining down on them. The children
also had great fun with the helium balloons we had used to decorate
the areas.
Overall the night couldn’t have gone better and all the guests
left with smiles on these faces and some wonderful memories. What a
wonderful way to celebrate 100 years.
