After the success of our first evening Open Day last year, we are holding another event this year from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, so you can come and explore our gardens during the afternoon, enjoy some canapes and nibbles, and watch the venue transform into the evening as the sun sets.
We know it’s important for couples to be given the chance to have a look at potential wedding venues before securing the one that’s right for you.

The Markovina staff will be available to answer questions and we’d love to show you around and discuss your wedding day ideas, rain, hail or shine.
A chance to picture your wedding day at Markovina Vineyard Estate
Our wedding venue open day will showcase all that Markovina Vineyard Estate has to offer. Over the years, we have fine-tuned the Markovina wedding experience, ensuring you have everything you need for your dream wedding in one stunning location.
You are welcome to walk the full grounds, checking out our nine ceremony locations and reception area. We encourage you to take your time and enjoy our garden oasis.
Keep in mind we only host one wedding per day so we can dedicate our full resources to your wedding, ensuring it is perfect in every way.
Garden Ceremonies
Located around our 10-acre property is eight different outdoor ceremony backdrops which all offer of unique experience.
From our large Chestnut Tree in the middle of our gardens, to our towering Two Kauri’s which rarely change over the seasons, to our Barrel Backdrop or stunning Barrel Waterfall. We have a number of ceremony locations to suit your wedding style.
Our white ceremony chairs are provided for every guest, and you can rest assured knowing that our team is here to take care of the set up at your chosen ceremony location.
Indoor Ceremonies
Perfect for winter weddings or a rainy day, our Otago schist fireplace ensures you can still enjoy the feel of a garden wedding, with our floor to ceiling windows, large sliding doors and manicured gardens surrounding our fireplace area.
With a large mantlepiece on top of the fire, this can be decorated in a number of ways with candles or flowers, or even without any decorations, our covered ceremony location is a simply stunning backdrop to recite your vows.
A Taste Of What Is To Come
Throughout our Open Day, our team will be continuously serving some of our canapé menu for you to taste, highlighting the style of food we offer.
Tempting your taste buds with our fresh prawns coated in a panko and coconut crumb served with mango chili sauce, to rare roast beef with horseradish cream on a toasted crostini with onion jam to our popular fresh fish goujons with our home-made tartare sauce. We will have these canapes, plus plenty more for you to sample on our Open Day.
Enjoy exploring our gardens and tasting our canapes with a glass of bubbly or beer, served by our friendly team.
The Wedding Reception
One of the main reasons we are hosting our Open Day from 2:00pm until 6:00pm, is so you can witness the transformation of our venue from the afternoon, into the early evening, and into darkness.
With the sun expected to set around 5:20pm, enjoy the afternoon watching how our abundance of fairy lights, vintage lights and candles make our venue sparkle, adding to the romance of your special day.
As the night falls, you will be able to experience our illuminated gardens and enjoy viewing our venue in its evening glory.
Making Your Day Extra Special
We’ve invited a passionate team of other wedding vendors to be at our Open Day for you to interact with.
Highly recommended by our previous couples, Sweet Bite Cakes and Just Jess Cake Co will be offering delicious wedding cake samples. Envy Events and Print & Petal will be styling our tables and indoor ceremony location for inspiration and Aaron Bloomfield will be showcasing his celebrant and entertainment offering, with Mike Steffens Wedding DJ & MC providing his services inside the reception room.
Not forgetting we also have confirmed wonderful photographers and videographers, Soul Sisters Photography and the team from Perspectives Photo & Cinema and Esme and Logan to discuss with you their packages and the many photo opportunities we have onsite within the Estate. Joining them, we also have onboard Matt Randall Productions, experts in videography.
As Easy As It Gets
We have created our wedding package to include all you need for a magical day, for a simple per person price. Not only does our package include venue hire, food and beverages, we also include our large selection of table decorations, our in-house music system and dance floor lighting.
You will be able to view our storeroom of decorations on the Open Day, and even take some time to get your creativity flowing and start planning what you will do at your mock table set up.
Our team will be on hand to discuss our wedding package with you and walk you through our entire venue. We want to be able to create the most memorable day of your life.
